What is kidd?
kidd.park.edu is mainly a Web site for people with projects to post them on the Internet. Although most of the projects come from CS 321 and CS 322 Web programming classes, other projects from other classes are also hosted. kidd is also a Web site for Park student, staff, and faculty to post personal Web stuff such as vacation pictures, personal Web site, baby pictures, artwork, etc..
What are the rules?
The kidd Web site follows the standard usage rules for Park University available at http://www.park.edu/itp.pdf. kidd is considered rather flexible but there are some general rules:
- No wares, stolen mp3s, porn, viruses, death threats, selling items, and etc... or other things that could cause problems, questions, or trouble.
- Limited space. While most people can have 10 Megabytes or even more, please let us know if you are using 25 megabytes or more. We will make arrangements particularly if it is for a school project.
- Do not run any programs that will cause the server to crash, spread viruses, reveal private information, etc...
What does the server support?
kidd runs Windows 2003 Server providing ASP/ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL 2005 database support upon request. Standard Java/Javascript is supported but JSP and Perl are not. If you need JSP for a project, please Request a Web Site on the arrr server.
Can I have more than one set of Web pages?
Generally, no. The policy dictates that one Web space (set of Web pages) per person, but for special projects and/or requests coming from faculty members, we can make exceptions. Please contact the Help Desk: helpdesk@park.edu for details.
What are some of the changes?
One of the biggest changes is that we now use Active Directory. To see what your username and password are, please visit What is my username?. If this combination does not work for you, please contact the Webmaster at helpdesk@park.edu so a correction can be made.
The second change is the requirement to log in with SSL (https://) to make sure that your password is encrypted as it is sent to the server and back.
